What Is the Main Purpose of Recruiting?
Recruiting is a popular career path, perhaps even more so than when I started. I’ve built a luxurious life around being a recruiter and developed an e-Course to help others achieve the same level of success. For those of you who may be asking, “what does a recruiter do?”, I can go on and on about what a recruiter’s purpose is.
Recruiters perform a lot of day-to-day tasks. They make phone calls, screen job candidates, discuss potential candidates with hiring managers, write job descriptions, conduct interviews, and so much more. The main purpose of a recruiter, however, is to match the right person with the right job.
In fulfilling this role, a recruiter must assess the skills, abilities, knowledge, and all the favorable traits of a candidate. But one doesn’t simply go around placing one person here, another there; nor do they devote all their time hunting for the best talent. Recruiters often take on an advisory role for their clients and candidates. As a recruiter, I am involved from the moment I engage with a candidate to when that candidate is hired and attends orientation. If you like a lot of moving parts and want to be in charge of your own career, while also changing others, this is for you.
But there’s more. I have maintained working relationships with candidates long after they’re hired. You never know when they might need you again! Truthfully, sustaining your contacts can mean profiting more than once from the same person—now that’s a profitable business model worth considering!
Right now, I understand you are just beginning. To give you a broader perspective of what a recruiter’s main purpose is, we will answer the following important questions:
Why Does My Company Need a Recruiter?
To start, a company needs a recruiting policy; but as we know, there’s so much going on in a business it can be hard to keep track of everything. You need someone who knows how to roll with the punches. With a recruiting policy, you can collaborate with your recruiter to ensure job descriptions are accurate, the same criteria are used consistently in the screening and selection process, and interviews and reference checks include the same questions for each contact. A sound policy also ensures the credibility of your advertisements and transparency of your process.
A recruiter ensures every step is properly executed and everyone is treated fairly.
How Will a Recruiter Help Me?
Any company’s recruitment strategy should align with its values. That means the company’s purpose and vision should be clearly communicated. Not only is this good for public relations, but for potential candidates who are interested in your organization. Marketing your brand affects how outsiders see your company and how they are ultimately evaluated during the application process. Also, the hiring process takes time. If you have a talented recruiter working for you, you can make a hire and benefit from their attributes sooner.
With a recruitment partner, you can have all the job descriptions, technologies, and strategies at your disposal, with the talent brought on already evaluated to ensure that the person is the right match.
